Monday’s signing of Foles simply sped up the timeline for a player who was likely out the door either way. The 30-year-old Daniel expected to fight for a starting role last season, but wound up throwing just one pass as Philadelphia leaned on Wentz from wire to wire.

The quarterback market is drying up, but it’s fair to wonder if Daniel could wind up just miles away with the New York Jets, one of the few remaining teams league-wide without a clear plan under center.

Let’s just say the Eagles fans are strict, but fair. Maybe harsh at times. They did boo Donovan McNabb mercilessly (infamously?) on draft night. That’s right. Got in on the guy before he even strolled across the stage to take the jersey from the Commish. Hey, welcome to Philadelphia, kid!

But, I love the Eagles fans. It goes back to the time I was kicking it with a Philly guy at an Angels game, enjoying the Halos knock off the Yankees (as they do). And the Philly guy was all, “Wow, I didn’t realize you guys hated Boston and New York as much as we did.” And then we clinked our $4.50 beers (that’s what they go for at Angel Stadium, mind you). So there is some sort of kindred spirit here. They are an East Coast team you don’t mind rooting for. And when compared to their NFC East counterparts, the Eagles win that beauty pageant by a large margin.

Although there were other potential options for Seattle, including recently cut Jaguars offensive guard Branden Albert and ex-Giants offensive tackle Will Beatty and disgruntled Texans tackle Duane Brown, Tobin could jumpstart the development of one the Seahawks’ top young players.

Tobin likely will slot in behind Rees Odhiambo at left tackle on the depth chart, but he should provide the Seahawks’ 2016 third-round pick with a healthy dose of competition moving forward. As NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo pointed out, Tobin’s ability to play different positions along the line gives the Seahawks a one-two combo of depth and flexibility.

Johnson, the former No. 4 overall pick in the 2013 draft and recipient of a six-year, $66 million deal last January, is a top five right tackle when healthy and on the field. During the games prior to his suspension last year the Eagles offensive line as a unit was looking like the perfect fit for a budding young quarterback in Carson Wentz. Only when they had to start looking for outside options, did problems develop.

Johnson will ultimately find forgiveness in on-field longevity and team success. The beer, assuming it’s a local selection like Victory or Neshaminy Creek couldn’t hurt though.

“When we looked at our team, how the wide receivers were doing in camp, the young wide receivers, maybe it allows us to keep another young wide receiver that we couldn’t before. We just felt like this was the best for the Philadelphia Eagles at the time.”

Roseman elicits some pretty extreme opinions one way or the other from the football analyst world at large, but there’s no doubt he’s anything but complacent. Roseman, like his predecessors in the Andy Reid/Philadelphia think tank, has always been willing to make the move. In this case, it was a move to bolster confidence in Chip Kelly-era draft pick Nelson Agholor, which not only shows confidence in coach Doug Pederson, but a willingness to accept a player from an era that he aggressively tried to dismantle upon returning to power in Philadelphia. As he mentioned on air Wednesday, Roseman was told by his personnel department that they had a wide receiver surplus and started working from there.

Positioned as a driver of tourism within the region, the draft attracted attendees from 42 different states and provided an opportunity for Philadelphia to shine as an event destination, with 93 percent of visitors citing the draft as their primary reason for visiting. Of those who attended, 79 percent would recommend Philadelphia as a travel destination and 62 percent intend to return to Philadelphia for a vacation within the next 12 months — indicating that the draft will have a continued benefit in the months and years to come.

In total, 18,991 room nights were consumed at paid accommodations between April 26-29 (80 percent in Philadelphia County). While total hotel room nights were below initial projections as some visitors opted for alternate locations during their stay, hotel room revenue was up 11.4 percent (YOY) in the Philadelphia region bringing in an additional $2.1 millionin room revenue over the same time last year, with $1.2 million in Philadelphia County alone.
