The Houston Texans wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins dissatisfies with his rookie contract which has two years left and makes him earn only $1 million in the new season. Hopkins will be fined $40000 every day for his absence of the training camp. But the management of the Texans refuses to negotiate with Hopkins about his new contract.

Hopkins is the core of the Texans offensive in the last season, and 31.6% passing of the team is passed on to him. He caught 111 balls in 2015 for 1,521 yards and 11 TDs.

Hopkins expressed last week that he wanted to the get salary in his value. Certainly, he is worth more than $100 million, but the focus is whether Texas will act as his wish.

The NFL teams usually won’t renegotiate contracts with players when the contracts haven’t expired. Most teams don’t want to set a precedent, and from the angle of the contract, they have no reason to negotiate with the player. In one case, the team will pay the player the next year’s part salary, but in fact, doesn’t mean to renew with him. Hopkins’ only farmar is the strike, but it’s disadvantageous for the player after the team does not pay the salary.
